RUMFORD – Geneva G. Leonard, 85, died Tuesday, April 15, at the Rumford Hospital. She was a resident of the East Bethel Road in Rumford.
She was born in Hallowell on March 26, 1923, a daughter of Harold and Ruth (Doucette) Rutter. She was a graduate of Westbrook High School. She worked at W.T Grant in Portland and then for the Rumford school department as a cook.
She was a member of the Rumford Corner Village Improvement Society. She loved flowers and gardening.
She was married in New Gloucester on Jan. 29, 1942, to Edmund Leonard, who survives, of Rumford.
Other survivors include three sons, Stephen Leonard and his wife, Gwyn, of Redmond, Wash., Ronald Leonard and his wife, Joyce, of Mapleton and Lyndon Leonard and his wife, Trisha, of Livermore; daughter, Judi Virgin of Embden; two sisters, Emma Selby and Gloria Guthrie, of Portland; six grandchildren; and a stepgrandson.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Harold Rutter Jr., Lawrence Rutter and Everett Rutter.
