LISBON – Scouts James Schafer (Den Chief), Jacob Bussiere, Andrew Kiel, Nick Huston, Tristan Mitchell, Connor Stitch and Spencer Thebeau, Den 2/Pack 109, gathered at the boat landing, corner of Lisbon Road and Frost Hill Avenue, to replace a flag.

After receiving permission from the town of Lisbon, they replaced the tattered flag, which had been flying since the fall before, with a new flag donated by Jeff and Mary Cuevos.

Scouts taking part in the March 25 project were Den Chief James Schafer, Jacob Bussiere, Andrew Kiel, Nick Huston, Tristan Mitchell, Connor Stitch and Spencer Thebeau

The project not only helped the boys in their goal of obtaining their citizenship pin, but it also served the purpose of teaching them about patriotism and how the American flag should be flown.

They lowered the old flag and received directions from Den Leader Bob Bussiere and Assistant Scoutmaster Don Schafer on how to fold it properly. Once the old flag was down, they unfolded and raised the new flag.

The flag that was replaced will be properly retired in June at Camp Gustin during camporee. Most of the boys present at the boat landing will also attend camporee and see the complete process of the proper way to handle, fly and retire a flag.
