FARMINGTON – Marjorie F. Plant, 77, of North Jay, died Tuesday, April 15, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 1, 1930, in East Jay, a daughter of Roland and Marilla (Holt) Fletcher. She was educated in Wilton schools, graduating from Wilton Academy in 1948. She went on to attend Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing for seven months and later worked for several winters at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital.
On May 15, 1960, she married Charles A. Plant. He died on Jan. 6, 1992.
She was a life member of the National Farmers Organization, which she also served as the state secretary for several years. She enjoyed country living, including her work on the family farm, observing the beauty and calm of nature, birds, animals, the changing of the seasons and the brilliance of the sky.
She is survived by cousins, Wilfred Noyes, Margaret Mahnke and Carolyn Amick; and several good friends and neighbors.
She was predeceased by her father on Oct. 3, 1952; her mother on Sept. 3, 1979; a brother, Clarence Fletcher on July 21, 1995; and cousins, Lizzie Rogers, Kenneth Fletcher and Laura Huffstetler.
