CARTHAGE – Rep. Sheryl Briggs, D-Mexico, recently presented a legislative sentiment to retiring town treasurer Dot Mason in honor of her 52 years of service to the town of Carthage.
Dorothy “Dot” Mason has held the office of town treasurer since 1956, but decided not to seek re-election this year.
“She is truly an amazing lady. I was so honored to be able to present her with this sentiment of appreciation on behalf of the Legislature, the people of Maine and the people of the town of Carthage,” said Briggs.
Briggs said the two share similar backgrounds – both have lived and worked their entire lives in the towns where they were born and raised. “There’s no place like home, family and friends,” Briggs said.
Briggs presented the sentiment to Mason at the annual town meeting.
