AUBURN – Robert A. LeBourdais, 92, of 168 Merrill Hill Road, Greene, died Tuesday, April 15, at Clover Manor Nursing Home with his family by his side.
He was born in Lewiston, Jan. 3, 1916, a son of the late Adelard and Ruby White LeBourdais. He was educated in Lewiston schools, and graduated with the Class of 1934 at Lewiston High School. He married the former Bernice H. Small in 1938. She died July 7, 2007. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. He founded and was president of Daris Refrigeration Co. in 1946, until his retirement in 1991. He was a charter member of the Dirigo Chapter of A.S.H.R.A.E (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers) and R.S.E.S.
He enjoyed playing cribbage, hunting and snowmobiling. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his special little dance routine with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Margaret (Marnie) Gardner and her husband, Paul, of Greene; a son, Robert M. (Hap) LeBourdais and his wife, Deborah, of Greene; his grandchildren, Paul Gardner and his wife, Michelle, Betsy Hutchins and her husband, Jeffrey, Jason LeBourdais and his wife, Laura, and Chad LeBourdais; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, Kegan, Andrew, Tyler, Angela and Tony; his great-great-grandchildren, Natalie, Lily and Joel; a sister, Ruth Mynahan of Kentucky; his nieces and nephews, Gail, Debbie, Pam, Bill Dave; and a special god-child, Bunny Wabuda.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard W. and David M. LeBourdais.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Clover Manor Nursing Home and Androscoggin Hospice for the exceptional and compassionate care given to our loved one.
