FRYEBURG (AP) – The number of men charged in the kidnapping and beating of a Boston man who was attacked in Maine now stands at six.

Twenty-year-old Richard Flagg of Conway, N.H., and 23-year-old Michael Merrill of Albany, N.H. were arrested this week on charges of elevated aggravated assault, kidnapping and robbery.

Both are fighting extradition to Maine.

Police say the men – two in Maine, four in New Hampshire – believe 21-year-old Phillip Swanson double-crossed them in a drug deal in Malden, Mass.

They’re accused in a plot to lure Swanson to Fryeburg, Maine, where he was allegedly kidnapped, beaten with a baseball bat, guns and a beer bottle, and left unconscious alongside a road wearing nothing but his underwear.
