AUBURN – Jennie M. Wing, 76, of Peru, died early Thursday, April 17, at the Hospice House.

She was born on Jan. 28, 1932, in Rumford, the daughter of Lester and Velma (Burgess) Downs. She graduated from Mexico schools.

On July 24, 1952, she married George Wing Sr. in Mexico.

She worked as a homemaker to her husband and family her entire life. It was a job she did with great pride and love.

She was active in her community through her memberships in the Rumford American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles’ Auxiliary, Dixfield American Legion Auxiliary, which she was a past president and the voucher 613 La Femme. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, knitting, beano, shopping, going to county fairs, especially the Fryeburg Fair and camping with her family as a younger woman.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, George Wing Sr. of Peru; children, Anita Lemay and her husband, Joe, of Orlando, Fla., Deborah Comeau and her husband, Alan, of Buxton, George Wing Jr. and his fiancé, Olga Miller, of Peru, Leonard “Lenny” Wing and his wife, Sandee, of Dixfield and Annette Wing and her companion, Steve Thomas; three brothers, Walter Downs of Mexico, Albert Downs and his wife, Gloria, of Dixfield and George Downs of Carthage; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonita Thomas; a granddaughter, Angela Lemay; and a sister, Lillian Richards.
