This is in response to the Sun Journal editorial April 14.

As a Catholic and as a Christian, though not a member of the Christian Civic League, I believe that sex between men is sinful, and that sex between women is sinful. That is my belief. I do not seek to impose my beliefs on anyone. Nor does Mike Heath.

I have met Mike Heath, I have spoken with him. I have broken bread with him, and I know he is not the arrogant neanderthal the editorial would have people believe he is.

If I owned a house that I wanted to rent out, and two young men came to me and said they wanted to rent it and remarked that they were homosexuals, at one time I could have said, “It’s nothing personal, but my religion teaches me that your lifestyle is wrong and I do not want to rent to you.”

If I were to say such a thing today, I could be arrested. Because of the so-called “gay rights bill,” my right to do what I want with my property has been taken from me.

Is that not discrimination? Of course it is – and legal.

Homosexuals are fond of saying that they just want to be like the rest of us, and that is fine. Why should they have special rights that set them apart from the rest of us?

I wonder if the editorial writer spoke to Mike Heath at all.
