LEWISTON – John Rothwell of Northeast Bank Insurance Group Inc. has been recognized as 2008 America’s Promise volunteer.

Rothwell served the youth of the Lewiston/Auburn area in numerous ways. As vice president of the Optimist Club, he worked on essay and oratorical contests, bike safety rodeos and holiday parties. He also is actively involved in Scouting and was the den leader for Pack 133. He is also coach for youth soccer, basketball and baseball teams. In addition, he is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and volunteers at his church.

Gov. John Baldacci recognized and congratulated this year’s 10 nominees for their volunteer efforts in the service of youth. Additionally, in a special legislative action this session, the 124th Legislature recognized the bankers from across the state in a joint resolution commending them for their commitment to volunteerism and to assisting Maine’s youth.
