LEWISTON – The Lewiston Youth Advisory Council will sponsor an art event for community children in grades K-4 from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St.
Lessons Through Expressions is as an opportunity for children to dig their hands into something new by participating in several art activities and cultural games.
Youth Advisory Council members will staff the event; children must be accompanied by parents or guardians. Admission is $1 per child; no charge for adults. Proceeds from the event will be used for future youth council projects, possibly with an arts focus.
Youth council member Athena Andoniades will facilitate the event on behalf of the group.
“This event is a fun-filled way for children to become engaged in the arts, as well as observe the work of artists who reside within our community,” she said. “Many LYAC members are involved with the arts and cultural activities, and we hope that children will leave this art event inspired to use their own creativity.”
Andoniades added that “amazing art pieces” donated by local artists and teachers would be raffled.
