Ray Chase recently won first place for wood carving of a fish in the open (professional) category at the Maine Sportsman’s Show in Augusta on March 28. His carving of a brook trout also was the winner of the Sportsman’s Choice Award, when people attending the three-day event choose their favorite carving. Chase is a resident of Dixfield and a Master Maine Guide and FFF Certified Fly Casting instructor. He has been carving for about two years.
