LEWISTON – In the Dragon Dance, a mighty serpent fills the stage.

In the Lion Dance, boys demonstrate their kung fu skills to the beating of drums and clashing of cymbals.

And in the Diabolo Sensation, the focus is on the diabolo, or Chinese yo-yo, with synchronized routines during which the spinning toys are tossed up to 30 feet in the air.

The Chinese Folk Art Ensemble will bring its show featuring authentic Chinese choreography, costumes and rhythm instruments to the Franco-American Heritage Center Saturday, April 26.

A nonprofit based in the Boston area, the troupe entertained a sold-out audience at the Franco center in 2006.

Performing a variety of traditional Chinese folk arts, members strive to promote interaction with and understanding of Chinese culture in the community.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12, $10 for students and seniors and $5 for children under 12. For reservations, call 689-2000. For more information, call 783-1585 or visit www.francoamericanheritage.org.
