LEWISTON – Maria Labbe had two hits, including a triple, and knocked in five runs to lead Lewiston to a 13-0 victory over Leavitt in the KVAC softball season opener.

Pitcher Danielle Willey limited the Hornets to two singles. She struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

The Blue Devils took control quickly by scoring five runs in the first inning. Labbe, Willey and Samantha Morency all had RBIs in the first inning.

Morency and Erica Morin led the attack with three hits each, while Labbe, Willey and Carley Dennis chipped in with two hits each.

Morse 3, Edward Little 1

BATH – Megan Hennessay had a solid performance both on and off the mound as Morse topped Edward Little 3-1 in a KVAC softball match-up.

Hennessay struck out three batters, hit a triple, and had scored a run for the Shipbuilders (1-0). Alex Giroux smacked a double and also scored a run for the Morse victory.

The Eddies (0-1) were paced by Megan Hussar with two hits, while Miranda Martin had five K’s in her loss.

Oxford Hills 8, Brunswick 4

BRUNSWICK – Kristy Jurczak fanned eight banners en route to an 8-4 Oxford Hills victory over Brunswick.

Megan Gauger came in during the sixth inning and struck out four for the Vikings (1-0) save. Kristi Springer smacked a two run double in the fifth for the win.

Jess Russell collected the loss for Brunswick (0-1).

Hampden 8, Mt. Blue 0

HAMPDEN – Ashley Gott ripped a pair of doubles to lift Hampden to an 8-0 triumph over Mt. Blue.

The Broncos scored three times in the first inning, and never looked back. Lacy Littlefield pitched a two-hitter and helped herself with a pair of hits.

Kelly Yardley and Moria Rowe had Mt. Blue’s only hits.

Baseball

Edward Little 12, Morse 0

BATH – Cody Goddard paved the way with two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored as Edward Little trounced Morse 12-0 in the KVAC baseball season opener.

Kyle Bussiere contributed three hits and scored three runs, while Adam Lutz had a two-run double for the Eddies win. Pitcher Mike Muise fanned eight batters and had two RBIs to help his own effort.

Mike Walton and Drew Wallace each hit doubles for Morse.

Hampden 6, Mt. Blue 2

HAMPDEN – Pat Stevens smacked a triple to help lead Hampden to a 6-2 victory over Mt. Blue.

Josh Tardiff and Cody Miller each had doubles, while Brandon Perry finished the game with three singles for Hampden. Shawn Smith was credited with the victory, striking out four batters and walking two.

Mt. Blue’s runs were scored on an RBI single from Tim Smith, and on Joe Gilbert’s sacrifice fly, which brought home Brad Dority.
