WEST PARIS – William “Bill” Thomas Packard, 83, of Gilbert Avenue, Rumford, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, April 21, at Ledgeview Living Center with his devoted wife of 53 years and his loving family by his side.

He was born in Rumford on April 13, 1925, the son of Stella (Ruff) and Charles Packard. He served his country in the Navy during World War II, and was a member of the VFW in Rumford. He was married to Cecile V. Lefebvre on July 10, 1944.

He had been employed at Oxford Paper Co. until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Church in Mexico. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and was an accomplished woodworker, making many items for family, friends and church fairs.

He is survived by his wife, Cecile; three daughters, Linda and husband, Spencer Couture, Karen and husband, David Wiley and Pamela Packard; 10 grandchildren, Shannon Couture, Stephanie and husband, Matthew Gallant, Jessica and husband, Chad Reed, Katrina and husband, Adam Luxton, Corey, Nathan and Shainna Mills, Aaron and wife, Michelle Milligan, and Eric and Kurt Milligan: eight great-grandchildren, Vannessa and Warren Gallant, Madison, Noah, Corbin and Griffin Luxton, Kaden Mills and AJ Milligan; and one niece, Andrea Martel.

He was predeceased by his parents; all of his siblings; and an infant son, Mark Allen Packard.

The family would like to thank Ledgeview Living Center staff for their wonderful and compassionate care given to Bill.
