DRESDEN – Police identified the two women involved in a fatal motorcycle crash here Monday afternoon as Susan McConnell, 43, of Winthrop, and Tamara Hoke, 32, of Wilton.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said McConnell succumbed to her injuries at the scene on Route 27 near the Wiscasset town line, The Lincoln County News reported. Hoke was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. A report on her condition was not available Tuesday night.

The Sheriff’s Office said McConnell was operating a 2007 Honda motorcycle north when she apparently lost control about 1:30 p.m. and she and Hoke were thrown into the southbound lane, the newspaper reported. Both were wearing helmets.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash at this time, the Sheriff’s Office told the newspaper.

As required by law, blood samples will be obtained from the driver but no information has been found indicating that alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash, according to the office.

Lincoln County deputies are investigating the possibility that McConnell may have lost control of her motorcycle due to an under-inflated front tire, the newspaper said. Deputies hope to determine if a medical condition or other bike defect was a factor.
