SOUTH PARIS – Samuel H. Timberlake, 89, of Bethel, died April 21, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

Sam was born in Turner on Feb. 1, 1919, he was the youngest son in a family of three sons and two daughters, born to Charles Heath Timberlake and Lena (Shaw) Timberlake.

He loved the outdoors, camping with his family, the visual arts and designing and building furniture. He was the founder of a successful family-owned and operated furniture business, S. Timberlake Co., and was a proud and active member of the Bethel community for 47 years. He was a member of numerous associations and forest industry organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Natalie; his son, Ross and his wife, Carole; two stepgrandsons, Joshua Sillsby of Portsmouth, N.H., and Rawson Sillsby of Kittery; a granddaughter, Arianne Scoville of Connecticut; three nephews, Stanley and William of Turner and Robert of Livermore; several grandnephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his older son, Seth Asher; two sisters, Elizabeth Timberlake and Laura Wade; and two brothers, Lloyd and Dwight.
