STRONG – State Education Commissioner Susan Gendron has recommended changes to a plan that would consolidate towns in SAD 9, SAD 58 and Coplin and Highland plantations into one school system.

SAD 9 Assistant Superintendent Susan Pratt said that she has already addressed Gendron’s recommendations and copied the part of the school reorganization law pertaining to initial election of new school members in staggered terms.

That is already written in the law, Pratt said.

The new board of the Western Mountains School District would consist of 25 members representing each of the towns based on population, if voters approve the consolidation plan.

The changes have been made and a draft has been submitted to the superintendents of the four school systems for review, Pratt said.
