MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) – A 21-year-old Hartford woman has been sentenced to nine years in prison for the deaths of two men in a fiery, head-on crash on Interstate 84.

Jennifer Marchand accepted a plea agreement in February and was sentenced in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday.

Dennys Perez, 26, and William Crespo, 33, were driving on Jan. 13, 2007, just before 3 a.m. when Marchand’s Ford Explorer crashed into their car.

She was driving on the wrong side of the highway near East Hartford when the collision occurred and police said she was intoxicated.

When a police officer arrived at the scene, the victims’ car was engulfed in flames. The bodies of both men were later identified using dental records.

Marchand pleaded guilty to two second-degree counts of manslaughter under the influence and one count of operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
