LEWISTON – Laurence Joseph Flynn Jr., 76, of Main Street, died Tuesday, April 22, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center suddenly after a brief illness.
He was born in Lewiston on March 19, 1932, the son of Laurence Sr. and Katherine (McIlroy) Flynn. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1951, where he had been active in school sports. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard for three years.
Larry attended Boston University for one year. He matriculated throughout the years at Central Maine Community College. He was employed at Bates College in the maintenance division for the past 27 years. He enjoyed watching movies, Big Band sounds, reading, golfing, maintaining his property and especially time spent with his great-nieces and nephews.
He is survived by four brothers, Robert and his wife, Benita, of Auburn, Brian and his wife, Jeanne, of Auburn, James and his wife, Joan, of Lewiston and Thomas and his wife, Arlene Flynn, of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
