NASHUA, N.H. (AP) – A former high school teacher accused of raping a student will avoid jail time as part of a plea agreement.

Kevin Goddu, who taught social studies at Timberlane Regional High School, was charged with 14 counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault last year, but his trial ended in a hung jury in November.

According to paperwork filed Thursday, he will plead guilty to two misdemeanor assault charges and agree to never teach again. A 12-month jail sentence will be suspended, pending two years of good behavior.

Goddu, 46, of Chelmsford, Mass., maintains the 16-year-old girl seduced him, and that their sexual encounter was consensual.
