LEWISTON – Jacqueline “Jackie” M. Angers, 74, of Grove Street, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 25, at Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Manchester, N.H., on Feb. 21, 1934, the daughter of Roland and Jeanne (Turcotte) Maynard.
Jackie was raised with the help of her aunt, Rose (Turcotte) Bernard, after the untimely passing of her mother, Jeanne, when she was 2 years of age.
She attended schools in North Berwick and South Berwick, Vermont, and Sanford, graduating from Sanford High in 1954.
She married Leonard Angers, who was from Lewiston, on June 19, 1954, at Notre Dame Church in Springvale. They Settled in Lewiston for nearly 51 years until Leonard’s death on Feb. 7, 2005.
In the year 2000 they met and were able to help many Canadian people who came here to Lewiston for cancer treatments and enjoyed staying in touch with them through the years.
Jackie worked at Raytheon from 1961 until they closed, Lewiston public schools hot lunch program from 1965 to 1975, Marcotte Nursing Home cafeteria and kitchen from 1976 to 1984, and retired from Knapp Shoe after 10 years of working there.
Jackie is survived by her three children, Claire Angers of Oregon, Collette McMinch of New Hampshire, and Charles Angers of Lewiston; grandchildren, Henry Giasson, Robert McMinch, and Vanessa McMinch; a dear sister-in-law, Rita Angers; brothers-in-law, “Babe” Aurelien Larochelle and Norman Angers; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Leonard Angers; and two sisters-in-law Anita Larochelle and Monette Angers.
