Norway – Florence (Reid) Hammond, 93, of South Paris, died peacefully at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, on Saturda,y April 26.

She was born to Florence Goodnow and Harry O. Reid on Aug. 20, 1914. She moved to South Paris at the age of eight and spent the rest of her life in South Paris.

Florence graduated from South Paris High School in the class of 1932. She spent many years caring for her parents. After their death she married Gerald Hammond in 1970, and was married to him for 25 years before his death in 1995.

She was a lifetime member of South Paris Baptist Church. Her church and her belief in God were very important to her. For the past year-and-a-half, she lived at Norway Rehabilitation/Living Center where she made many new friends. All her adult life she was an avid Red Sox fan.

Florence leaves behind two stepdaughters, Geraldine Ricci of Arlington, Mass., and Joyce Bramson of Lewes, Del.; she also leaves many nieces and nephews living outside of Maine. Anita Patenaude of Oxford is the daughter of her twin brother. They remained close over the years.

She had a twin brother, Harry Reid, who predeceased her in 1994. She was also predeceased by brothers, Earl and John Reid; and sisters, Dorothy Thereau, Ethel Berry and Nellie Holmes.
