Film to be shown
AUBURN – “Recycled Life – Scenes from the Guatemala City Dump”will be shown at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Auburn First Universalist Church, 169 Pleasant St.
Anne Perron will share photos from a recent mission trip to Guatemala City with Safe Passage and screen “Recycled Life,” an Oscar-nominated documentary about the city’s main garbage dump, 350 feet deep, and the children who live there.
Guatemalan crafts will be sold to benefit Safe Passage, working with the poorest children of families in the Guatemala City garbage dump.
The event is free; good will donations will be accepted. The church is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 783-0461.
Excelsior to meet
POLAND – Excelsior Grange 5, 446 Harris Hill Road, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3. The lecturer’s program will be in observance of Mother’s Day, and plans for a public dinner on Sunday, May 11, will be made. All grange members and friends are invited.
Thorncrag clean-up
LEWISTON – In honor of Earth Day, Young People of Lewiston, Auburn Area is teaming up with A Family For ME and the Stanton Bird Club to spruce up the Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 3.
It will be a family-friendly event with opportunities for the whole family to get exposure to and clean Thorncrag as well as tour the facility.
May is Foster Care Awareness Month in Maine, and YPLAA and the Stanton Bird Club wish to host foster children and their families, organized by A Family For ME, at a community event.

Pine Grove meeting
POLAND – The annual meeting of the directors and officers of the Pine Grove Cemetery Corp. of Poland will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, in the parish room of the Poland Community Church. All lot owners and members of the corporation are encouraged to attend.
Sodality breakfast
LEWISTON – There will be a Rosary Sodality corporate communion breakfast on Sunday, May 4, at St. Patrick’s Church. An 8:30 a.m. Mass will be followed by coffee and doughnuts for members and their families in the Msgr. Fitzpatrick room. A meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 6, with recitation of the Rosary in the chapel at 6:30 p.m. Installation of a new member will be followed by a business meeting in the Msgr. Fitzpatrick room. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
Fortier Chapter
LEWISTON – The Dr. Paul Fortier Chapter 52, Association Canado-Americaine, will gather at 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, in the Senior Citizens Room of the Multi-Purpose Center.
