Legion meeting
RUMFORD – American Legion Post 24 and Auxiliary will meet on Sunday, May 4, at the post home, Congress Street. Lunch will be served at 5 p.m. with meetings to follow. The auxiliary will have installation of new officers.
Roadside cleanup
ANDOVER – Andover Service Circle and Roxbury ATV Riders Club are co-sponsoring the roadside Andover Community Clean-up Day on Saturday, May 17. Volunteers are asked to report to Andover Town Hall at 8:30 a.m. for bags, rubber gloves and a suggested assignment. Refreshments will be served.
Scrapbooking day
RUMFORD – The Catholic Area Youth Ministry is sponsoring its second annual “Love 2 Scrapbook Day” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Eagles Hall.
Tickets purchased in advance are $20 a person and will include a lunch, snacks throughout the day, give-aways, prizes every hour, raffles and a Chinese auction. Tickets at the door will be $25.
All proceeds will benefit the St. Athanasius-St. John’s Youth Ministry trip to Australia in July for World Youth Day. For more information and to purchase tickets, contact Elaine Palmer at 364-4696 or Trinket Fergola at 364-8255.
Honors members
BETHEL – Alder River Grange 145 held an open house on April 25 at the hall in East Bethel with approximately 30 members and visitors present.
The occasion was highlighted by a presentation of 50-year membership pins and certificates by Maine State Grange Master James Owens to Alvin Stevens and Stan Howe, who joined Alder River in November 1957. Both made remarks and Howe recalled some of the history of the grange.
Gospel concert
BUCKFIELD – Gospel singer and recording artist, Ken Fernald, Portsmouth, N.H., will appear in concert at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, May 18, at Buckfield Community Church.
