LEWISTON – The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing will present “Nourish Yourself or Your Loved One,” the first installment of a cancer and nutrition workshop series, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1.

Oncology dietitian Ashley Whalen will discuss how nutrition supports the treatment and recovery of people with cancer.

“Nutrition plays an important role in the treatment and recovery of people with cancer,” said Kerry Irish, director of the Patrick Dempsey Center. “Research shows that cancer patients who eat well and maintain their weight often tolerate any treatment side effects better and recover more quickly.”

Whalen will offer insights on coping with nutritional issues before, during and after treatment. She will also discuss how to improve overall nutrition.
