RUMFORD – The Rumford Community Concert Association’s final concert of the 2007-08 series, which was supposed to feature the Juggernaut Jug Band, has been replaced with Andy Stein’s “Blue Four.” The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Muskie Auditorium, Mountain Valley High School.

The change of performers was due to circumstances beyond the control of the association.

Stein is an eclectic musician with a 35-year career spanning rock’s’ roll, country, jazz and classical genres. Having performed major concertos with orchestras in New York, Chicago, New England and the South, touring China with a string quartet, and recording, Stein began mixing elements of different musical genres together.

For 13 years, his violin and saxophone could be heard weekly on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor, where he now appears frequently as a special guest.

With his current group, Stein fulfills a lifelong dream – merging swing and chamber music. The selections include the works of Ellington, Waller, Gershwin, Berlin, Kern and Fields and McHugh.

Rumford Community Concert Association volunteers will be available at the concert to assist anyone who would like to join. Memberships are $35 until May 4, $40 after that date. Children 18 and under are free, accompanied by an adult.
