Gospel concert
BUCKFIELD – Gospel singer and recording artist Ken Fernald, Portsmouth, N.H., will appear in concert at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, May 18, at Buckfield Community Church.
Fernald has traveled for more than 25 years throughout the Northeast sharing the Gospel through song and testimony. He has hosted radio and television programs and now travels in a full-time concert ministry.
Italian supper set
HEBRON – The Hebron Community Church Outreach will open its Ristorante Italiano on Saturday, May 17, at the Hebron Community Baptist Church when there will be an all-Italian dinner of spaghetti, lasagna, pizza, other pasta dishes, garlic bread and salad with gelati (ice cream) and biscotti (cookies) for dessert.
Proceeds will benefit the Littlefield Orphanage in Malawi. Prices are $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Janet Littlefield, a teacher at Hebron Academy and founder of the orphanage, will be present. For more information about the supper, call Marian Hall at 966-2663.
Sunday sermon
PARIS – The Sunday sermon at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., for May 4 is “Worship in Music.” There will be special organ music along with guest soloists. Music is under the direction of Forest Perkins and Sunday school is under the direction of Renee Wales. Following the 10 a.m. service, there will be a brunch coffee and fellowship. All are welcome to attend and child care is available.
Members honored
BETHEL – Alder River Grange 145 held an open house on April 25 at the hall in East Bethel with approximately 30 members and visitors present.
The occasion was highlighted by a presentation of 50-year membership pins and certificates by Maine State Grange Master James Owens to Alvin Stevens and Stan Howe, who joined Alder River in November 1957. Both made remarks and Howe recalled some of the history of the grange.
