NORWAY – Stone-Smart American Legion Auxiliary met April 9 with President Marilyn Jones presiding.

Poppy Chairwoman Kim Hansen noted that Poppy Days will be held Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10. Christine Weiss and Theresa Dodge will be at Rite-Aid. Marie Pingree and Joyce Clifford will be on Main Street by the post office and Marilyn Jones and Kim Hansen will be at the Lake Store.

Membership Chairwoman Marjy Sessions noted membership is now at 96. Ellen Snow reported that she has recently donated baby items, toys, household goods and sport equipment to Sequoia’s Angels project.

It was noted that $7,613 in items has been donated to help people in Oxford County by Unit 82. Albert Mercuri, a member of the post, collects the items and Snow sees that Sequioa’s Angels receive them. Thelma Denlinger was thanked for taking a week in bingo kitchen.

Members voted to purchase raffle tickets to help on the purchase of electric razors for veterans at Togus. They voted the following donations: Children’s Miracle Network; Legion Memorial Park for flowers; and gift monies, department president and second district president, given at convention. It was voted to purchase flags for second-graders at the Guy E. Rowe School.

Officers for the coming year were elected.

Dave Tilley, Arnie Pendexter, Cory Millett and Randy Henley served a pasta supper.
