AUBURN – Edward Little scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, then scratched out another in the ninth to remain undefeated Wednesday with a 4-3 KVAC baseball victory over Brunswick.
The Red Eddies (4-0) took advantage of two errors and RBI singles by Corey LaRue and Mike Muise to knot the game in the seventh. Muise’s hit came with two out.
In the ninth, Adam Lutz reached on an error, advanced to second on a balk and scored on LaRue’s single.
LaRue had three hits and three RBIs for EL. Lutz scored three runs and was a repeat hitter along with Muise and Cody Goddard. Shane Ciriello picked up the win with an inning of work in relief of Muise. Together, they held the Dragons (2-2) to four hits.
Rangeley 2, Richmond 0
RICHMOND – Luke Hammond gave up just three hits in seven innings of work as Rangeley pulled off a 2-0 victory over Richmond in EWC baseball action Wednesday. The Lakers (1-0) scored the winning run in the first and added an insurance run in the sixth.
The Bobcats (0-2) were paced by Bruce Carver with two hits.
Livermore Falls 21, Carrabec 0
LIVERMORE FALLS – Derrek Castonguay hurled five innings of two-hit baseball and got plenty of run support as Livermore Falls rolled over Carrabec 21-0 in a MVC matchup.
Zach Keene led the Andies (2-1) with three hits including a double, while Kevin Gats belted two hits highlighted by a three-run home run.
Alex Meyers was saddled with the loss for Carrabec (0-1), the first of four pitchers to take the mound.
Mt. Blue 12, Nokomis 2
FARMINGTON – Senior pitcher Joe Gilbert had an outstanding game on both offense and defense as Mt. Blue waltzed to a 12-2 victory over Nokomis in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.
Gilbert went 4-for-4 with a double and two triples, while notching the mound win for the Cougars (1-4). Sophomore catcher Alec Wallace contributed a double.
Shortstop Cody Johndro had two of the Warrior’s (0-5) three hits and a double and triple in the five-inning mercy rule shortened game.
Oxford Hills 7, Lewiston 4
SOUTH PARIS – Senior center fielder Nigel Cromwell clubbed a two-run double in the third inning to boost Oxford Hills to a 7-4 victory over Lewiston in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.
The Vikings improved on a 4-1 lead in the third by collecting a run in each of the following three innings.
Senior shortstop Eddie West, who had two singles in the game, started a hitting rally in the Blue Devils’ three-run fifth inning.
But Lewiston closed the inning down 6-4 and failed to produce any further runs.
Jay 12, Mt. Abram 6
SALEM – Mike Holland sparked the Tiger offense in the eighth inning as Jay rattled off six runs to take a 12-6 win over Mt. Abram in MVC baseball action Wednesday.
Pitcher Charlie Dexter allowed only two hits through seven innings for the Roadrunners (0-2), while collecting a pair of hits at the plate.
The Tigers (2-1) took advantage of seven Mt. Abram errors, having been outhit 11-6 by the Roadrunners.
Oak Hill 2, Rockland 0
ROCKLAND – Senior pitcher Chris Ellis fanned 10 batters to earn a two-hit shutout over Rockland in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.
Senior shortstop Tom Edgecomb went 3-for-3 for the Raiders (1-0) with a double and two singles, while stealing two bases.
Shortstop Luke Morrell had one of the Tigers’ (1-1) two hits in the loss.
Cony 12, Leavitt 0
TURNER – Jacob Beland gave up five hits and received adequate run support as Cony sailed past Leavitt 12-0 in a baseball matchup. The Rams (4-0) were led offensively by TJ Valle with a three-run home run, while Corey Mason and Ray Cotnoir belted doubles.
The Hornets (0-5), who played in the rain Monday, were led by Nick Letourneau with a two-run double. Colby Youland took the loss after allowing three runs in the first four innings.
OOB 10, St. Dom’s 0
OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Senior pitcher Mike Grindatti tossed a two-hitter and capped off a six-run fifth inning with a two-run home run as Old Orchard Beach blanked St. Dom’s 10-0 in WMC baseball action Wednesday.
The Seagulls (1-0) scored two runs in each of the first two innings before unloading six runs in the fifth inning to cut the game short.
New Hampton 15, Hebron 11
HEBRON – Steve Marlotte and Mark Saunders combined for six hits and two RBIs to lead New Hampton to a 15-11 victory over Hebron in a prep school baseball matchup.
Ken Gobbi also had a hot bat for New Hampton with four hits, three runs scored and two RBIs. Terry Redman picked up the mound win working in relief of Saunders.
Hebron was paced by Sebastian Wingendorf’s three hits highlighted by a three-run home run. PJ Senatore also rippled a homer run for Hebron, while Peter Buckley and Nate Dupere combined for five hits and two RBIs.
Lacrosse
Oak Hill 12, Mountain Valley 2
RUMFORD – Tyler Pomerleau collected four goals and four assists as Oak Hill cruised to a 12-2 victory over Mountain Valley in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.
The Raiders (3-0) were prolific throughout the contest, scoring multiple goals in each quarter. Nick Brown contributed three goals, while Corey Stubbs and Tyler Wells were superb on defense.
Myles Mercier paced the Falcons (0-2) with both of their goals.
Goalie Tyler Merton made 15 saves for Mountain Valley, while Dan Fontaine turned away six for Oak Hill to earn the win.
Hebron 4, Tilton 2
TILTON, N.H. – CJ Estes scored two goals, while Costas Tsitouras and Malik Garvin added one each as Hebron rolled to a 4-2 victory over Tilton in a prep school boys’ lacrosse matchup Wednesday. Nick Costanzo made six stops in net to record the win.
Noble 9, St. Dom’s 8
BERWICK – Attackman Andrew Myers scored go-ahead and game-winning tally with two minutes remaining in regulation for Noble to edge St. Dom’s 9-8 in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.
Sophomore midfielder Trevar Haefele recorded three goals and three assists for the Saints (0-1). Midfielder Tim Doucharme had an outstanding performance, leading the way for the Knights (1-0) with five goals and an assist.
