FARMINGTON – Charges against a Wilton man have been dismissed due to insufficient evidence, according to court records.
Timothy Goodwin, 42, was arrested in January by Wilton police on charges of gross sexual assault and aggravated promotion of prostitution after an investigation into a Jan. 5 incident.
He was released on $2,500 cash bail for a court appearance on April 28 to face charges of attempted gross sexual assault, assault and unlawful sexual touching.
“The original allegation really was very far-fetched,” said Goodwin’s attorney, Woody Hanstein, on Tuesday. “After more evidence was uncovered, it became even more far- fetched.”
All charges were dismissed April 17 and bail was returned to Goodwin, he said, describing Goodwin as a man with no previous criminal record and as a good father.
Goodwin was charged in January with offering to pay a girl for sex and then forcing himself on her after she refused. A parent reported it to Wilton police.
At that time, Hanstein said there was more to the case than what police had been told.
