LISBON FALLS – In the spirit of this summer’s 10th running of Chief Worumbo’s Androscoggin Fun Race, which this year honors the Wabanakis and the many tribes of Native Americans who were the first people in North America to greet the new day, Lisbon Falls native Faye Brown will host a forum on the Androscoggin River at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the MTM Center, School Street.
Two environmental groups will lead a discussion that chronicles the history of the river and look at the potential it holds today.
The Androscoggin River Alliance and its program director, Neil Ward, will show a short film on the environmental history of the river. Jonathan LaBonte, executive director of the Androscoggin Land Trust, will continue on that theme to highlight riverfront conservation and recreation efforts under way in communities.
In addition to many of the larger initiatives under way, information will be available on how individuals and neighborhoods can play a role in continuing to advance protection of the Androscoggin River watershed.
Questions from the audience and discussion will follow the presentations. Refreshments will be served. The program is free.
For more information, contact LaBonte at 782-2302 or e-mail [email protected].
