LEWISTON – Several varieties of warblers will be the center of interest for participants of the field trip sponsored by the Stanton Bird Club on Saturday, May 10. Portland’s Evergreen Cemetery will be the destination.
The group will car pool from the Promenade Mall parking lot in front of Staples, leaving at 7 a.m. and returning around noon.
Evergreen Cemetery is a stop-over for many birds, and bird watchers from across the state travel to the site to see the variety of migrants. Warblers, vireos, flycatchers and thrushes are all possible sightings on the trip.
Stanton field trips are free and nonmembers are invited. All experience levels are welcome. For more information, contact trip leader Dan Marquis at 784-8397.
In addition to the Evergreen field trip, the Stanton Bird Club is sponsoring weekly bird walks. Join other “early birds” at 6 a.m. every Tuesday through May 20, as members walk along the Bates College campus and Riverside Cemetery in search of migrating warblers and other songbirds. All experience levels are welcome.
Meet trip leader Tom Hayward at Hathorn Hall, Bates College. For more information on the morning trip, contact Tom Hayward at 782-5238.
