LEWISTON – Alex Wong belted an RBI double in the seventh inning to lift Lewiston to a 2-1 victory over Mt. Ararat.

Eddie West was a double-barreled asset to the Blue Devils (2-3), with three hits and limiting Mt. Ararat to one hit in the complete-game performance.

Anthony Farrell went the distance for the Eagles (3-2).

Mountain Valley 10, Georges Valley 7

THOMASTON – Dean McCrillis smashed a three-run double in the fifth to highlight a five-run outburst to lead Mountain Valley to a 10-7 victory over Georges Valley on Thursday in baseball action.

Winning pitcher Cody McPherson blasted a solo homer to lead off the fifth. Ryan and Matt Laubauskas each hit doubles for the Falcons (2-0).

Ryan Staples smacked a home run for the Buccaneers (1-1), while brothers Larson and Logan Platt each had two hits apiece.

Rangeley 12, Valley 0

RANGELEY – Luke Hammond had a two-run double to lead Rangeley to a 12-0 baseball victory over Valley.

Pitcher Ben Bliss struck out eight batters and gave up just one hit en route to earning the win. David Raymond, Zack Abbott, Hammond, and Bliss each had two hits apiece.

Telstar 11, Boothbay 1

BETHEL – Mike Fleet hurled five innings of three-hit baseball and got ample run support as Telstar sailed past Boothbay 11-1 in an early-season MVC baseball tilt.

Fleet and Andy Whitney led the Rebels (1-1) with two hits apiece, while Joe Fournier belted a double.

Catcher Tim Norwood led the Seahawks (0-1) with two hits.

Cony 5, Edward Little 1

AUBURN – Charlie Partridge slammed a three-run homer in the first inning as Cony defeated Edward Little 5-1 in KVAC baseball action.

Ray Cotnoir hit a triple in the Rams (5-0).

For the Eddies (4-1), Devin Flynn hit an RBI single in the third to bring in Adam Loudermilk for the lone EL run.

Dirigo 2, Monmouth 1

DIXFIELD – With thanks to the speed and daring of Derek Daley, Dirigo edged out Monmouth 2-1 in what proved to be an eight-inning pitchers’ duel.

Daley scored the game-winning run after stealing second and third. A bad throw to third allowed Daley to cross home. Daley also scored the first run on a stolen base and an error for Dirigo (3-0).

The lone Monmouth (1-1) run came off a Allen Tozier single that plated William Smith. Mustangs pitcher Joe Murphy had a strong performance, giving up no hits until the eighth inning, and fanning seven batters.

Cape Elizabeth 10, Poland 5

CAPE ELIZABETH – Cape Elizabeth scored 10 unearned runs Thursday to pull off a 10-5 victory over Poland.

Ryan Boyington allowed nine hits in seven innings to post the win.

The Knights (2-2) were led by Kyle Kyllonen and Ben Piper with RBI doubles, while Jackie MacVane and Nick Douglass belted two hits each. Starter Matt Brewster took the loss after a damaging first three innings.

St. Dom’s 6, Sacopee Valley 4

SOUTH HIRAM – St. Dom’s came from behind to pull off a 6-4 victory over Sacopee Valley in a WMC matchup Thursday.

The Saints (1-1) trailed 3-2 after one inning before scoring one run in each of the next four innings to seal the win. Pitcher Scott Allen gave up five hits to record the victory. Peter Bryant belted a solo home run in the third inning for St. Dom’s.

Lacrosse

Mt. Blue 11, Lincoln 3

FARMINGTON – Zack Conologue netted five goals Thursday to propel Mt. Blue to an 11-3 rout over Lincoln Academy.

Jay Joseph chipped in for the Cougars (2-0) with two goals, while single tallies by Ashton Ireland, Travis Robinson, Lance Dwight and Joe Leclaire completed the scoring. Ben Altmeier made 12 saves to notch the win.

EL 15, Oxford Hills 4

AUBURN – Matt Nyholm had a game-high eight goals to lead Edward Little to a 15-4 triumph over Oxford Hills.

Aaron Gould chipped in with a pair of goals, while Zack and Cam Bennett, Tim Brodsky, Tom Lynch, and Aaron Polisky each added a goal apiece for the Eddies (1-1).

The Vikings were led by Spence Eusten and Dana Aube with a pair of goals each.
