NORWAY – A 42-year-old registered sex offender was arrested Wednesday on a new charge.

Linwood Curtis Lord of 32 Alpine St. in Norway remained at the Oxford County Jail on Friday afternoon on $20,000 cash or $75,000 surety bail. He is charged with Class B unlawful sexual contact.

Norway police Detective Gary Hill said the charge stems from a single incident in which an 11-year-old girl accused Lord of touching her in the genital area while she was at his residence.

According to records at Oxford County Superior Court, Lord pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual contact in 1988. He was sentenced to serve 120 days of a four-year sentence, along with four years of probation. Hill said the girl in that case was under the age of 14.

Hill said new state laws required Lord to register as a sex offender in 1999.
