Meeting canceled

MINOT – The meeting of Androscoggin Pomona Grange, scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, at West Minot Grange, has been canceled due to illness. The fifth degree will be worked again in the fall.

Nutrition workshop

LEWISTON – The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing will present “A Plant-Based Diet: The New American Plate,” the second installment of a cancer and nutrition workshop series, on Thursday, May 8.

Oncology dietitian Ashley Whalen will discuss the “New American Plate,” which is based on the American Institute for Cancer Research Guidelines.

The science-based approach to eating emphasizes foods that have been shown to significantly reduce risk for cancer and improve overall good health

The free program will be offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Conference Room H on the lower lever of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building. Call 795-8250 or 1-877-DEMPCTR to register.

OES presentation

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

The chapter will honor all past and present grand representatives. Stephen Broas, worthy patron, is planning a special presentation for all present grand representatives.

The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:15. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

DAR program

LEWISTON – Regent Sheila Desgrosseilliers has announced that Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in the activity room at the Marshwood Center on Roger Street. Following the business meeting, a program on the founding of Mother’s Day will be presented.

Mother’s Day meal

POLAND – The annual Mother’s Day dinner will be held at the Excelsior Grange Hall, 446 Harris Hill Road, on Sunday, May 11. Serving will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. with smothered beef, mashed potato, vegetables and coleslaw served family-style. Beverage and dessert will be included for $7, adults, $3, children 10 and under. The lower hall is handicapped accessible at the rear entrance.
