Dear Sun Spots: On April 21, you responded to a writer telling them that they could contact Artios Books for their request, but the wrong phone number was printed. The number is 786-4007 and we are at 180 Turner St. in Auburn. Also in response to the request for Grace Livingston Hill, we do have several in stock. Thank you. – Sue, Auburn.
Answer: Sun Spots regrets the error and thanks you for contacting us with a correct phone number.
Dear Sun Spots: I want to thank you for being such a wonderful resource for your readers. I am looking for canning jars and a pressure canner. We are seniors on a fixed income and have to find some way to extend our money. I gave mine away years ago, but once again I find I need them. I can’t afford the price of new ones but am willing to pay a reasonable price for used ones.
We are also looking for someone who can install a wood stove for us. They don’t have to be a professional, just someone that knows what they are doing. Since we are unable to keep up with fuel oil prices, we want to go back to burning wood. We will supply everything, and are willing to pay a reasonable price.
Also, I wanted to mention, why haven’t towns/cities set aside a piece of public property for the use of yard sales by local residents? They could charge a small fee. With gas so high now, folks cannot afford to ride all over and this would also be much safer than having cars parked all along the roads/streets. I may be reached at 268-2012. Thank you once again. – Joy, Litchfield.
Answer: Donna from Pine Tree Fence and Stove Shoppe at 1423 Lewiston Rd., (Rt. 126), Litchfield, strongly recommends hiring a licensed professional to install your wood stove due to legal requirements, safety and insurance considerations. They have a list of local sub-contractors that they could provide for you. Call Bob at the store at 268-4533. They are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon.
Dear Sun Spots: I have a collection of 33 1/3 records in good condition, they are ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. Anyone who wants them, all they have to do is pick them up. My telephone number is 782-0160. Thank you. – John, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: I am working on displays for the Franco American Heritage Center at St Mary’s. I would like to get one of the two Pine Tree Warriors flags, a hat with the spike on top, and green and gold uniform if possible. I would also like to get a coat, sash and tuque from the following snowshoe clubs: Acme, Cavalier, Jacques Cartier. I already have the Indians, Montagnard Amis Choisie, Cercle Canadien & Passe-temps. This would help with the displays, which will be there for a long time. If you need more information please call Bert at 786-2304. You may drop these items at the Heritage Center on Oxford Street in Lewiston if you wish. Thank You. – Bert, No Town.
