PORTLAND – Gard W. Enman, 61, a resident of 9 Mark St., Lewiston died early Monday, May 5, at Maine Medical Center after living seven extra years after a heart transplant in 2001.

He was born in Brunswick, Jan. 16, 1947, the son of Harlan and Hope Mae (McIver) Enman. He attended Durham schools, was a 1965 graduate of Lisbon High School, and also attended the University of Maine in Portland. After his education, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967.

He married the former, Claudette Parent in 1970, and then began his career in building material sales. At the time of his death, he was head of sales with Pineland Lumber Co. in Lewiston, and had been employed with them for more than 25 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 66 of Lisbon, and had also served as state commander. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Kora Temple Shrine, and a member of the Scottish Rite.

Survivors include his wife, Claudette of Lewiston; one son, Jason Enman of Lewiston; three sisters, Mrs. Earlene Washburn and her husband, Linwood, Mrs. Donna Russell and her husband, Frederick, all of Brunswick and Mrs. Diane Bernier and her husband, Denis, of Bowdoin; two brothers, John Enman and his wife, Patricia, of Lisbon Falls and Wayne Enman and his wife, Wendy, of Durham; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
