FREEPORT (AP) – L.L. Bean plans to open a second store in the Chicago metropolitan area as part of its retail expansion outside of the Northeast.

The Freeport-based outdoor gear and apparel company announced Monday that it will open a 30,000-square-foot store in Skokie, Ill., in November.

The company previously said it would open a store in September in the Chicago suburb of South Barrington. It also plans a November opening for a store in Pittsburgh.

Most of L.L. Bean’s sales are through catalogs or on the Internet.
