LEWISTON – Museum L-A invites children of all ages to bring their mother for a free multi-generational program from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Museum L-A in the Bates Mill Complex, 35 Canal St.
Part of the program will feature stories about women’s work in Lewiston and Auburn. It also will include a museum tour of machines used in the process of weaving fine cloth, as well as the shoe worker’s exhibit. Both exhibits of tools and machines give a sense of where many local mothers worked – in the mills and shoe shops.
Mothers and their children will also work together on a little project they can take home. This will be another time to talk about women’s work and how it has changed over time.
Call Museum L-A to sign up at 333-3881. Space and supplies are limited.
Museum L-A is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history of the Industrial Revolution and its workers in Lewiston-Auburn. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
