Dear Sun Spots: Can anyone help me? I need a 9 inch hexagon cake divider plate for a wedding cake due May 24. Wilton no longer makes them so I can’t order one from them. Please someone call me at 212-9945. I live in Auburn. – Dolly, Auburn.
Dear Sun Spots: Help help! I just received two 8 mm films. I have asked friends, and nobody I know owns a projector. Is there somewhere I can rent one or can someone out there help me out? I would love to view them. I don’t know how and I don’t want to damage them. Thanks. – Mark, Auburn.
Answer: Sun Spots is not aware of anyone who provides 8 mm projector rentals. If you are unable to find one to use, consider contacting Via Vision Production, 18 College St., Lewiston. They can transfer your 8 mm movie reels to a standard DVD and also enhance the movie once it’s transferred. They may be reached at 783-2550. Francis at Via Vision also suggests checking eBay to purchase one. He notes that if you decide to purchase your own, be sure it has a bulb that is working, and that the projector works with the type of film you have.
Dear Sun Spots: Would you please print some information about Tommy’s Feral Felines in Greene, how they operate and how people can help them. Thanks. – No Name, Rumford.
Answer: Sun Spots spoke with Norm Blais, owner of Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, and he provided us with some wonderful information about his organization. As of now, its has 10 shelters to which its provide food to about 400 feral cats. When it receives calls to help with feral cats, it traps the animals and has them spayed or neutered, which has helped control the population and has helped prevent the spread of deadly diseases. The cats are then returned, if that is an option. It has been helping felines for more than 20 years. According to its Web site, the organization started when Tommy, a feral cat belonging to Norm and his partner, went outside to play in the snow and never returned. Since the search for Tommy, the organization’s population of feral felines grew. It also provides vaccinations and any medical treatment needed, and offers foster care with rehabilitation. It has devoted thousands of volunteer hours interacting and socializing to gain the animal’s love and trust.
Donations are always appreciated and will be used toward expenses for food, shelter and medical necessities. Any donations may be mailed to Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, PO Box 274, Greene, ME 04236.
Dear Sun Spots: Thank you to all who attended the 8th Annual Fabric and Craft Supply Fair at High Street Congregational Church in Auburn on April 19. The fair was a big success for the church and the table renters were also pleased with the turnout. Thank you to all who made fabric and supply donations to the church.
Also, we have three, 10-yard pieces of satin that are perfect for prom dresses. If anyone is interested in this fabric at a good deal, please call me at 753-0367. – Judy McKinney, Auburn.
