RANGELEY – Luke Hammond stole the show, blasting two home runs and dominating on the mound to lead Rangeley to a 6-2 win over Buckfield Tuesday afternoon.
Hammond fanned 12 on the bump, and his two homers came in the third inning to give Rangeley the lead. Ross Gordon hit a double for the Lakers, while Kent Madeira had a pair of singles.
Monmouth 12, Georges Valley 2
MONMOUTH – Ronnie Hobson and Mike Linholm each smacked two doubles and collected an RBI a piece as Monmouth turned-out a 12-2 win over Georges Valley.
Devin Robbins and Parker Ferland each hit doubles for the Mustangs (2-2).
Oak Hill 2, Lincoln Academy 1
NEWCASTLE – Brett Turcotte hit an RBI double and later scored the winning run to give Oak Hill the 2-1 win over Lincoln Academy Tuesday.
In the first inning, Ben Rines hit a double and was driven in by Turcotte. Turcotte then scored what would prove to be the Raiders’ (3-1) winning run after the Lincoln Academy first baseman overthrew to third base, allowing Turcotte to scamper home. Chris Ellis earned the win, striking out 11 batters Peter Brooks had the lone hit and scored the only run for Lincoln (2-2).
Softball
Gray-New Gloucester 6, York 0
YORK – Laura Getchell tossed a shutout, fanning 12 batters and giving up just two hits in the process, as Gray-New Gloucester posted 6-0 win over York in softball action Tueday.
Brittany Adell paced the Patriots (3-2) offensively with two doubles and two RBIs, while Getchell, Kassie Wilson, and Abby Ryan each hit a pair of singles.
Livermore Falls 13, Dirigo 1
LIVERMORE FALLS – Whitney McDaniel gave up just three hits in five innings and got ample run support as Livermore Falls rolled to a 13-1 rout over Dirigo in MVC softball action Tuesday.
Kathrynn Lake led the Andies (3-2) with three hits and four RBIs, while Jayde Purrington and Kayla Wilson combined for four hits and five RBIs. The Cougars (2-3) prevented the shutout with a lone run in the fifth.
Buckfield 13, Rangeley 7
RANGELEY – Casey Farrington earned the win and led Buckfield to a 13-7 romp over Rangeley in EWC softball action.
Angela White paced the Rangeley effort with a three-run homer in the sixth inning.
Oak Hill 8, Lincoln 2
LINCOLN – Lauren Hall held her opponents to just three hits in seven innings as Oak Hill rolled to a 8-2 victory over Lincoln.
Becca Roberts led the Raiders (3-1) with two hits and two RBIs, while Sarah Albert, Cadie Rodrigue and Becca Belaire also belted two hits apiece.
Kassie Lincoln went the distance for the Eagles (1-3) and was saddled with the loss.
Lacrosse
Mt. Blue 5, Morse 4 (OT)
FARMINGTON – Justin Brooks scored a goal late in overtime to lift Mt. Blue to a 5-4 victory over Morse in KVAC boys’ lacrosse action Tuesday.
Brooks led a group of five players to tally for the undefeated Cougars (4-0) in a balanced attack.
Derek Rowe, Ashton Ireland, Zac Conlogue and Zack Dalrymple also posted goals to complete the scoring. Ben Altmeier made 12 saves to notch the win.
The Shipbuilders (3-1) received goals from Ryan Kacke, Nick Small, Pat Wolfe and Robert Perry, while Jesse Cassidy turned aside 15 shots in net.
