As the economy falls and the price of the necessities in life rise, so do the concerns towards today’s youth. The Town of Lisbon has proposed budget cuts that limit the sports, foreign language, music and art programs, teaching and educational technician positions, academic and other clubs, and a school resource officer, offered at the middle and high school levels.

Without these programs or areas of study, students may not be able to express themselves in the abstract ways that will take them further in life. Janice Comber, a member of the school committee shared with me, “Once items are cut, it’s difficult, if not impossible to bring them back.”
