FARMINGTON – A jury has been chosen for Gerald “Mike” Pond’s trial on charges of misdemeanor domestic assault and terrorizing.
The trial has been set for Wednesday, May 28, at the Franklin County Courthouse.
Pond, chairman of the local school district, was accused last year of assaulting and terrorizing a family member.
He has pleaded innocent to the charges.
On Monday, he pleaded no contest to the terrorizing charge in a plea agreement with the state that dropped the assault charge.
He withdrew that plea after a discussion with his attorney on the possibility of losing his right to possess firearms and the agreement was dropped.
The deal was for a six-month deferred disposition and after that time, if he had successfully completed the requirements, the terrorizing charge would have been discharged.
