Grange sale
TURNER – Turner Grange 23 will hold a flea market, yard sale, bake sale, seed sale and chicken barbecue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17. The Grange is located on Route 117.
Gospel Sunday
SALEM – A+E Hill Country Music will return to the Salem Community Building for the annual gospel Sunday at 1 p.m. May 18. Lew and Linda Lyman will be special guests featuring hymns and gospel songs.
It is the last show of the season for A+E Hill Country. A donation box will be at the door and refreshments will be on sale.
Society speaker
CARTHAGE – The Carthage Historical Society will meet at the museum at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, for a potluck supper followed by a short business meeting and a program by Billie Gammon.
Dr. Ethel “Billie” Gammon, PhD, of Livermore, will share highlights of her 92 years as a teacher, wife, mother and of her work with Norlands Living History Center.
In 2006 the Maine Folklife Center, an organization that is devoted to the preservation of tales and traditions of New England, published a book written by Gammon’s granddaughter titled “No Flies on Bill.”
Last winter Gammon her own book of memories. The public is invited.
