AUBURN – Esther H. York, 94, of Hall Hill in Dixfield, died Wednesday, May 7, at the Hospice House.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1913, in Hartford, a daughter to the large family of Frederick and Lilla (Weston) Bryant. She attended Canton schools.
She married Leroy Hall of Dixfield in 1930. After a few years, they bought Leroy’s father’s farm and woodlots at which point she became a very busy wife and homemaker to her husband and family.
After her husband’s death in 1976, she could not handle the chores of the farm and sold it and moved to another home on Hall Hill, where she currently lived.
She remarried Thomas York of Canton. He died two years later.
By chance, she later met Dr. Emile Frigault, practitioner in Dixfield. They enjoyed a loving, mutual and unending companionship.
She was a faithful, loving, kind and compassionate woman who will also be remembered as an excellent cook and a devoted family woman.
She is survived by her companion, Emile; two daughters, Louise Whitney and Jeanette and her husband, Larry Fournier; grandsons, Mark and Stephen Whitney, Dennis and Kenneth Fournier; granddaughters, Pamela and Deborah Whitney and Kathy Brigham and her husband, Peter; great-grandchildren; a nephew, Daniel Towle and his wife, Judy; a niece, Patricia Fahey and her husband, Richard.
