LEWISTON – Lillian M. Michaud-Fournier, born Sept. 4, 1912, in Presque Isle, died Tuesday, May 6, at Montello Manor. The sixth child of 10 born to Peter S. Michaud and Laura Caron-Michaud, she grew up in several Maine towns.

She married Leopold (Paul) I. Fournier on Feb. 25, 1935, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston. They made their home in the surrounding Lewiston and Auburn area, where they had five sons and four daughters. In 1970, she decided to take her youngest son Victor and move to Lakeworth and Palm Beach area in Florida, returning to the Lewiston area in 1993.

Our mother was a very strong minded and feisty person. She was also a woman of very high faith and believed strongly in the Catholic religion.

She is survived by her nine children, Leopold (Paul) I. Fournier Jr. of Okeechobee, Fla., Donat (Don) L. Fournier and his wife, Joan, of Sabattus, Joyce E. Fournier-St. Pierre and her husband, Roger, of Auburn, George E. Fournier and his wife, Joyce, of Brentwood, Tenn., Claire T. Fournier-St. Laurent and her partner, Susan Chandel, of Topsham, Y. Lillian Fournier-Wright and her husband, Sumner (Dutch), of Williamsburg, Va., LeRoy (Lee) J. Fournier and his wife, Elaine, of Lewiston, Pauline I. Fournier-Paradis and her husband, Paul, of Durham and Victor J. Fournier of Turner; 22 grandchildren, Karen Fournier-Connor, Lyn Fournier-Carroll, Donat (Don) Fournier Jr., Raymond St. Pierre, Sherrie St. Pierre-Arsenault, Steven St. Pierre, Scott St. Pierre, Cynthia St. Pierre-Hummes, Tina St Pierre-Allen, Donna Fournier-Nock, Michael Fournier, Mark Fournier, Tom St. Laurent, Raymond St. Laurent, Wendy Wright, Wesley Wright, Kimberly Fournier-Jacques, Jason Fournier, Chelsea Fournier, Eric Wing, Heather Paradis-Blanchard, Jennifer Paradis; three sisters, Evelyn Michaud-LeVasseur of Hudson, Fla., Dorothy Michaud-Bolduc of Lewiston and Lena Michaud-Aube of Auburn; a very dear niece, who is her godchild, Rita Bolduc-Jean of Lewiston; 45 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Peter Michaud and Laura Caron-Michaud; four brothers, Paul, Wilford, Donat (Don) and Peter; two sisters, Elaine Michaud and Beatrice Michaud-Gagnon; and one great-grandson, John David Paradis.
