FARMINGTON – Two eighth-grade students and one seventh-grade student from Mt. Blue Middle School recently received recognition from the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University for their outstanding performance on the Scholastic Aptitude Test.

The eighth-graders, Jackie Chen and Courtney Qi, and seventh-grader, Maryann Norton, scored equal to or above the average college-bound senior.

CTY looks for exceptional mathematical and/or verbal reasoning abilities among students of seventh- and eighth-grade age in order to provide opportunities that encourage them to excel.

CTY’s Talent Search gives students the opportunity to take a test designed for older students, one with a higher ceiling. The testing reveals more about their academic abilities and allows students to compare their results with those of other highly able students. Participants also learn about educational options and opportunities for students with similar abilities.
