LEWISTON – Community Little Theatre will hold auditions for this summer’s end-of-season production of “Footloose,” one of the most explosive musicals in recent memory. Auditions are set for 6 p.m. Sunday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 20, at the Lewiston Middle School Auditorium on Central Avenue.

In this lively adolescent-oriented musical, a city kid attempts to adapt to life in an ultra-conservative backwater Midwestern town. Once there, he ends up leading the repressed teenagers into a rebellion against the town fathers who have outlawed rock ‘n’ roll and dancing.

Some of the lead roles in Footloose include Ren, a fun-loving teen from Chicago, and his intelligent and resilient mother, Ethel McCormack; Ariel, a thrill-seeking teenager from Bomont; Rusty, Urleen and Wendy, Ariel’s friends; Reverend Shaw, the charismatic minister of Bomont and his good-humored wife, Vi Moore; and the quick-fisted hayseed, Willard Hewitt. Many other roles fill out the cast of Footloose with age ranges from 13 to 50.
