FRYEBURG – Katy Moreau squeezed in Kristy Gray with the lone run of the game as Poland knocked off previously undefeated Fryeburg 1-0 in a WMC softball game Friday.

Gray led off the top of the fourth with a double before being sacrificed to third. Moreau then laid a bunt down the first-base line, and Gray raced home ahead of first baseman Desiree Ramsey’s throw.

Taylor Girouard (1-1) earned the win for the Knights (3-5) who received sparkling defensive play from shortstop Jen Baril and first baseman Kacie Rae Ford in an errorless game.

Hannah Hill (7-1) punched out 13 batters in suffering the loss for the Raiders (7-1).

Jay 6, Mountain Valley 3

JAY – Daydra Loon tossed a six-hitter and struck out seven to lead Jay to a 6-3 triumph over Mountain Valley.

The Tigers (4-3) snapped a 2-2 tie with three runs in the third, helped by a pair of errors.

Tanya Martin hit a two-run homer for the Falcons, while pitcher Shelby Moore limited Jay to five hits.

Messalonskee 8, Lewiston 4

OAKLAND – Messalonskee jumped on Lewiston by scoring four runs in the first inning on four hits and an error, and the Devils never recovered in an 8-4 defeat.

The Eagles (4-4) led 6-0 after two innings. Lewiston made a late run, aided by RBI singles by Danielle Willey and Maria Labbe, but the rally fell short.

Lewiston (6-2) pounded out 11 hits – all singles. Labbe and Erica Morin each had three hits, while Willey and Lyndsay Smith had two apiece. Stacey Boulette had two hits for Messalonskee.

Mt. Blue 7, Morse 6

FARMINGTON – Freshman Hannah Allen slapped a two-out single to right field in the bottom of the seventh inning to plate the winning run as Mt. Blue defeated Morse 7-6 in a KVAC softball game Friday.

The Cougars (2-6) tied the game with three runs in the sixth highlighted by RBI singles by Chelsea Kendall and Johanna LaPlant.

LaPlant finished with three runs batted in to support the relief pitching of Katrina Campbell (1-4).

Starting pitcher Meagan Hennesey paced the Shipbuilders with three hits, including a lead-off homer in the fourth. She also suffered the loss.

Telstar 14, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD – Kayla Merrill threw a two-hitter and singled and doubled as Telstar (4-1) rolled to a 14-0 victory over Dirigo (1-4) in a five-inning softball game Friday.

The Rebels ran up the scoreboard, scoring nine runs in the fifth inning. T.J. Coulin doubled twice and Julie Stambois had two singles.

For Dirigo, Katrina Paulk and Kayla Chiasson each had a hit.

Monmouth 19, Boothbay 1

MONMOUTH – Kristi Hilton threw a no-hitter, and teammates Alyssa Morin and catcher Beth Neal each went 3-for-4 as Monmouth waltzed to an 18-1 victory over Boothbay in in a five-inning softball game Friday.

The Mustangs (5-1) exploded with 15 runs in the third inning, easily putting this game out of Boothbay’s (0-4) reach.

Jen Lola also had two hits for Monmouth. Boothbay scored one run in the third inning.

Georges Valley 14, Livermore Falls 0

THOMASTON – Danielle Frye fired her third no-hitter of the season as Georges Valley shut out Livermore Falls 14-0 in an MVC five-inning softball game Friday.

Frye (5-0) fanned 11 and walked four in picking up the win. Ashley Geel belted a pair of three-run homers and knocked in seven runs. Erin Judkins added a two-run shot in the first for the Buccaneers (6-0).

Whitney McDaniel (3-4) suffered the loss for the Andies (3-4).

Lawrence 5, Leavitt 4

FAIRFIELD – Alex Bickford scattered eight hits and struck out five batters as Lawrence beat Leavitt 5-4 in a KVAC softball game Friday.

The Bulldogs (1-7) took advantage of a dropped fly ball which triggered a three-run fifth inning.

Paige Dyer, Brittany Nelson and Liz Sabine each had a double to pace the Hornets (1-7). Alevia Bradley (0-3) fanned six while being tagged with the loss.

Oak Hill 7, Belfast 3

BELFAST – Lauren Hall keyed a four-run third inning with a two-run double to deep left centerfield to lead Oak Hill to a 7-3 win over Belfast in a KVAC softball game Friday.

Becca Roberts contributed a double among her three hits while driving in a pair of runs in a 13-hit attack for the Raiders (5-1). Deidre Dubuc had three hits of her own to support the stellar pitching of Brittany Wood (4-0). Wood yielded one hit while fanning six over six innings of work.

Vicki Overlock (4-2) struck out eight and was the losing pitcher for Belfast (4-2).

Skowhegan 4, Oxford Hills 0

SKOWHEGAN – Rebecca McCarty outdueled Kristi Jurczek as Skowhegan defeated Oxford Hills 4-0 in a KVAC softball game Friday.

McCarty fanned nine and allowed just four hits for the Indians. Sam Gray had an RBI single in the first and Whitney Jones added a double to lead the offense.

Lana Wheeler ripped a double to pace the Vikings (5-3). Jurczek also gave up four hits in going the distance, striking out 11.

Lisbon 10, Wiscasset 0

LISBON – Brooke Merritt and Shauna Riordan knocked in two runs apiece as Lisbon shut out Wiscasset 10-0 in a MVC softball game Friday.

Emily Moore (5-1) tossed a four-hitter to earn the win for Lisbon (5-1).

Lacrosse

Hebron 16, Kents Hill 5

HEBRON – KJ Forand and Sarah Markey recorded four goals apiece as Hebron rolled to a 16-5 victory over Kents Hill in girls’ lacrosse action Friday.

The Lumberjacks led 7-2 at the half. Katya Planson added three goals, and Ally Baribault made 12 saves for Hebron in the winning effort.

Five different players scored a goal for Kents Hill.
