Registration now open for Triple Crown events
LEWISTON – The Greater LA Triple Crown Kids Fun Run Committee has announced that registration is open. A 1k Kids Fun Run will take place at all three local 5k races that make up the Greater LA Triple Crown: the YMCA Fit Fest, Saturday, June 14; Emily’s Run, Saturday, July 26; and the LA Trails Bridge Run, Sunday, Aug. 24.
This year, the Auburn Firefighters Local 797 Children’s Fund will sponsor all three fun runs. They will provide medals for all participants with a bronze at the Fit Fest, silver at Emily’s Run and a gold at the Bridge Run.
The firefighters will also have a fire truck at each event and will begin each run with the sound of the siren. There is no fee for the fun runs but preregistration is asked by either logging on to www.active.com or calling the YMCA at 795-4095.
The proceeds from sponsorships, entry fees (for the 5ks) and donations will go to the YMCA, the Fletcher Foundation and LA Trails.
The funds will be used for scholarships to YMCA programs, college scholarships for area seniors, the Auburn Public Library and local trail maintenance and improvements.
Those who would like to register for the 5k races of the Triple Crown should log on to www.active.com or pick up a brochure at the YMCA on Turner Street in Auburn. Walkers are also encouraged to register.
For more information about the Greater LA Triple Crown, contact Mike Lecompte at 777-3724.
Those interested in volunteering at any of the races should call Wendy Tardif at 783-7395.
